Day 7?

Scary monsters, super creeps. I'm starting to lose track a little bit here. These photos were taken on Sunday at the Museum des Augustins, except for the gargoyles on the outside of the cathedral which are found on the Eglise de Ste. Etienne (and looking pretty good too I'd say, no evidence of erosion or damage). But this post is being written Tuesday morning, as if it were the day before-- confused? , I am.

The last photo shows a lion eating himself, his tail specifically. The information plate beside the capital says that the lion is eating himself to death. There are several others in this same vein. Many of lions, some of peacocks (ostriches maybe?) all eating various parts of themselves, to death. Not sure what it all means.

It's a lovely museum, the most important and largest in Toulouse, housed in an old monastery complete with cloister, church, etc.
The howling dog-like creatures are found in the gallery surrounding the cloister. If you like cloisters-- as I'm sure you do, all that tranquility and out-of-time quality, a lyrical place you'd have to say-- it's a pretty fine one with a herb garden and one single large pyramidal fir (I think) tree. There are many romanesque and gothic sculptures as well as paintings from the 18th and 19 centuries.

It's a fine day today in Toulouse. 15c and sunny. I'm going out. Don't eat yourself to death.

Hi Hans,

Some intersting pics and comments on "Too Loose" environs and social celebrations. Certainly more evocative than a couple of emails would have been.

No news from Guelph. Everyone here is generally well (Dad seems to be getting over a flu now.) Missed you at Mom's b-day celebration.

Anyway, good luck with the job search - at least 15 degree days and sunny weather should keep the spirits up.
