Day One: Paris

Bienvenue a Paris. So far the travel gods are with me. All is going swimmingly, except that I had to wait 5 hours for a train to Toulouse. The one I wanted was sold out. I locked up my bags for 9, 50 E and went for a walk. Bought myself a baguette some cheese and nuts and water (6,80 E ) and proceeded to the park. But perhaps the gods meant for me to walk in the rain and cold, to see the Jardin de Luxembourg in its winter glory. Too wet to stay, I retreated to the train station and waited for the train. I arrived in Toulouse in the dark, around 10pm, about 22 hours after leaving Toronto. Though I had been awake for nearly 40 hours by now I went out for a beer before retiring. One glass Heineken 2,80 E. One conversation with a Moroccan named Yah-Ya and an Algerian (Maghreb). One more beer at my new friend's insistence and expense. 12:25 am: to bed.
